Why your 3pl needs a recruitment officer

Effective warehouses rely on diversity, teamwork, flexibility in choice, and personalised results for each company when it comes to recruitment. Despite this, some warehouses still rely on a busy manager to handle the hiring process, or work with a 3PL provider which doesn’t employ a professional recruitment coordinator. This short article will discuss the above advantages which are offered through a dedicated recruitment consultant.
  1. Diversity
Diversity is essential in any workplace, particularly in terms of utilising different strengths which various personality types are prone to. Employing a diverse range of staff is firstly facilitated through bulk hiring numbers, as different demographics are statistically more likely to apply as applications increase. More specifically, warehouses are advantaged by a diverse workforce through conflict resolution and reduction, business reputation enhancement, exposure and economic empowerment (Mayhew, Ruth: 2019). Sifting through multiple applications efficiently requires a devoted recruitment specialist, particularly when the scale is expanded.
  1. Teamwork
Only through one-on-one interviews and contact can the vital signs of teamwork ability, respect, and social skills be evaluated. A qualified and experienced recruitment coordinator can afford the time needed for getting to know candidates and can deduce the core values which are required for someone working in a team-based environment. For care to be taken in the selection progress, group interviews and speedy recruitment processes are inadequate for securing team building. By getting to know diverse candidates and seeing which personalities would likely work better together, recruiters are also able to form micro-groups within the process, to send out to sites together.
  1. Flexibility in Choice
One of the most essential benefits of partnering with a 3PL company in general is flexibility- and this is also relevant to the recruitment system (Fleishacker, Evan: 2017). If your 3PL provider does not have the right recruitment system in place, you are unable to replace workers who don’t suit your warehouse imminently. One of the key components of 3PL in general is the ability to call in the right workers at the right time, and then to ask for specific alternatives if things don’t work out.
  1. Personalisation
3PL providers are usually working with multiple warehouses and businesses at any given time, so without a dedicated recruitment coordinator across the board, your labour hire needs may not be met to the same standard. Every warehouse requires different staff with varying skills; for example, whilst one warehouse may be needing 7 long-term experienced forklift drivers with supervisor/management experience within a week, another might be needing 2 entry level labourers for a simple task. If your 3PL provider doesn’t have a role dedicated to finding flexible workers to suit your individual needs, you might need to think twice about your partner.

SEQ Management can handle all recruitment needs through labour hire. Just explain what you need, and you can trial people for the roles!
